Hey everyone, have the following machine and the motherboard has started to fail.

Processor
Intel Core i5-2550K 3.40GHz LGA1155 6MB

Motherboard
Asus P8Z77-V PRO S1155 Intel Z77 DDR3 ATX

Graphics Card
Asus GeForce GTX 560Ti 830MHz 1GB PCI-Express HDMI

PSU
Corsair Memory TX650 V2 650W ATX Enthusiast Series

RAM
G.Skill 8GB (2 x 4GB) ARES DDR3 1333MHz DIMM 240-pin CL9 Orange

I wanted to replace the motherboard but don't know what I can buy to still using the other parts or if it's worth replacing the lot with something "new"

Any suggestions, based in the UK, budget is around 300 GBP.

Thanks in advance.

Changing the motherboard and keeping everything else gives you no greater performance.

More performance requires changing most everything.

I have a Dell Studio XPS 435mt to sell. Bought it new in 2009. I stopped using it in 2020. Last upgrade I installed was a 1tb SSD. Then I thought, even though it has an i7, it's a first gen 920, who's gonna want it? Along with keeping an old computer comes obsolesence. It has an EVGA 970sc, Nvidia is planning to stop making drivers for it soon. :confused2:

Motherboard, RAM, and CPU near certainty to be replaced.

I think Corsair TX was a pretty good power supply in its day, but if it is 10 plus years old, it would be a candidate for replacement also.

Your case and drives are possibly re-usable if you have at least one SSD.

Some new CPUs will include a new compatible cooler. Some won't.

You are not in good shape for 300 pounds. Ideally, you stockpile more money.

If you are perfectly satisfied with current performance, you could replace just the motherboard with whatever you could find...possibly on the used market. But you're at a dead end with current parts if you want any appreciable performance increase.

An SSD always helps....maybe you don't have one? But not a night and day difference on antique hardware.

Not ultimately looking for any increase in performance. It does ok as anything but gaming anymore, so my parents are fine with it being handed down to them.

I do have an SSD in there already, when I first built it many moons ago.

What specifically am I looking for in regards to motherboard on the used market?

If your copy of windows is OEM, it is tied to the original motherboard.
A exact make/model replacement would avoid needing a new license.

Considering your budget, I would think you could buy something like a much faster I3-12100 processor, motherboard and 16gb of ram

Intel charges quite the premium for their onboard graphics, which aren't as good as AMDs.
