Is upgrading from a Pentium G640@2.8GHZ to an i5 2400@3.1GHZ a good option?

Hi everyone, basically that, i feel that my low budget G640 is beggining to tear down my gaming experience in games like 64p Battlefield 3/4 multiplayer games, but the question is, do i really need to update my CPU or is only battlefield so damn CPU demanding, and it will do better on other games, take in mind i play in 720p 1360x768 (i know.. :sarcastic: just dont make fun.. xD)

Games i play:
Alien vs Predator 3
Battlefield 3/4
Rust
Hurt World
Ark survival evolved
Team fortress 2
Minecraft
Assassins Creed Series

You can use 2nd and 3rd get Intel CPU's on your mobo with BIOS update, they use same socket.
But for that cheap price go with i5 2400.
You will see soo much higher and stable FPS with new CPU.
Battlefield is extremely demanding on the CPU in large multiplayer games. BF3 and BF4 scale well across four and even six and eight cores, so upgrading your CPU to an i5-2400 would help in those two games. Many of your other games are not as limited by the Pentium, but it would certainly still help in some others.

What graphics card do you have?

I have an XFX Core Edition HD 7770 1gb DDr5

A little weak, but it shouldn't be a problem if you're wise about the settings with your resolution only being slightly higher than 720p and the games you play mostly not being very graphics intensive.

Also, nitpicking, but its GDDR5, not DDR5. There is no such thing as DDR5 and if it is listed as such, then it is mislabeled. Pet peeve of mine 🙁

i only plan on replacing my cpu and buying a samsung SSD for now

My specs:

Pentium G640@2.8GHZ ( i5 2400 to come)
HD 7770 1GB DDR5 XFX Core Edition
500 WD HDD ( SSD to come)
ECS H61H2M2
8GB Dual Channel Ram

no i cant use anything from 2nd to above because my motherboard is LGA1155 and i do not plan on replacing it now, besides i found a outstanding offer for the i5 like 2/5 the real price

thx bro for everything
