Is upgrading from an i3 2120 to an i5 2400 a good upgrade for gaming with a GTX 970?

It looks like im going to go with the 2400, are you sure it wont bottleneck my GTX 970? And this is sandybridge yeah?

You should be fine with the 2400 then. Did a quick search on ebay and the 2400s are going for around $40 less than a 2500k currently.

The forum is acting up and isn't allowing me to edit my posts. Yes the 2400 is Sandy Bridge (2nd gen). Ivy Bridge is 3rd gen and Haswell is 4th gen.

Anyway the 2400S vs the 2400 runs at a lower base frequency (2.5Ghz vs the 2400 3.1 Ghz) has a lower TDP (65W vs 95W) and has a slightly lower turbo speed (3.3Ghz vs 3.4Ghz)

Which one would you say is better, ive been looking around and i think the 2400 not 2400s?
