Hi all, I'm new here. I have been contemplating this for a few days now. Shall I upgrade my system from an i7-4770S to i5-9400F?

Current specs:
i7-4770S
GTX 1060 6GB
16GB RAM
SSD

I'll be keeping the video card, SSD and maintaining the RAM size at 16GB DDR4.

Do you think it will make a big difference for gaming at 1080x1920 60HZ? For example Red dead redemption 2. I'm getting 60 FPS but sometimes dropping to 40s to 50s.

Thanks in advance.

Solution
https://cpu.userbenchmark.com/Compare/Intel-Core-i7-4770-vs-Intel-Core-i5-9400F/1978vs4051
this visualizes it nicely.
Gain is across the board ~20%. + m.2 ssd etc, so overall its good change
BUT.
for same price amd gives 25 to 50% in A BIT CHEAPER setup.
https://cpu.userbenchmark.com/Compare/Intel-Core-i7-4770-vs-AMD-Ryzen-5-3600/1978vs4040
so overall, upgrade would help to both intel and AMD.
as you seem to want some more horses on the cheap, consider 3300X, new one that just came out.
it costs half of 9400f and offers same performance as 7700k.

for RDR your cpu still should be fine so maybe all you need is new paste and a bit of dust removal.

The answer is YES and NO. there are some downsides and upsides for each of the two cpu...
i've read all the documents about these cpus and i recommend to do not switch to the i5-9400F but, switch to another cpu instead...

it don't limit RDR at all even with 2080 TI (but please dont take gpu stronger than 2070 super for this cpu, its madness)
