Is windows 10 stable enough for everyday use? Gaming, skype, internet, etc. I have had so many problems with windows 8.1, I never want to see it again.

What issues are you having? I have had almost zero problems with Windows 8.1 in terms of stability and reliability. What would be the point of imaging your drive with an OS that is not even RTM yet to be used as your daily driver? If you want to dual boot it that is one thing but is it worth the hassle of getting everything set up that you want and then have to possibly redo everything? You should be able to upgrade Windows 10 from the pre release to RTM according to reports but I would do a clean install anyway just to make sure that everything is clean.

Lots and lots of hard drive issues. Disk is almost always at 100% because of "system" and has yet to be fixed by Microsoft.

i been using it now for a few builds. the only real buggy build was a few back that loaded all of the language packs. the newest build 10122 has been real stable for me. if you dont like how windows 8x looks use the free tool clasic shell and make it look and run like windows 7.x classic shell also work in windows 10. if you dont mind backing your data up and wiping the drive you can do a clean install of the beta. with windows 8 your going to get free upgrade to windows 10 when it drops.

Sounds like a good idea... I will try it.

I have had zero experience with 100% disk usage (obviously my experience is not the only one but I have had quite a bit of experience with multiple deployments of Windows 8 / 8.1 and have never really encountered this) but there are a few things that you could try. There are so many different part configurations under the sun that it can be hard something to troubleshoot so hopefully it goes well.

I found this thread that seemed to help quite a few people. I also performed most SSD management setup recommendations. Disabling defrag, pre fetch, super fetch, etc. Windows 8 does quite a bit of this by default but there are still things that you need to manually set. Are you using a SSD or a regular HDD? Perhaps there is something wrong with the drive? Either way, maybe take a look through this thread and see if anything helps.

Already looked through it, nothing helps. I have a WD blue 1tb hard drive.

Hmm, is this a clean install of Windows or an OEM version that was preinstalled? Dont mean to derail your thread away from the original point of it, but just want to see if there is a way to clear up your issues as it definitely is not normal. Windows 8 handles disk management much better than 7 and my performance has seen an improvement around the board in terms of resource usage.

Clean install. It only uses 100% disk usage on startup (2min after startup, it's back to 0-5%) and is always because of "system" and my antivirus software. Thanks, for asking. I really want to fix it.
