Is Windows 8.1 same as 8?

So I am getting new OS today because I have an W7 from old market PC bought years ago, so it is OEM version, and I need a fresh OS install but I have the OEM.. So first I looked at W7, it was about 200 euros in the webstore I looked, then W8.1 was only 120 euro, and I've seen people talk that 8 equals W7 for gaming performance and compability, does that include W8.1 too?

I've heard its possible to do fresh install of OEM W7, but I dont see how it is done...

And yeah my PC is mostly all for gaming.

If you buy the 8 version you have to manually update. If you have Win 8 you can update to 8.1 for free from Windows store. Also Win 8 is mostly a little bit more cheap than 8.1 ready version.

yes , u can update Windows 8.1 in windows store later~

Actually windows 8.1 give u better modern UI support ~
And it also have better experience than Windows 8 ~
So I highly recommended u upgrade windows 8.1 after installation of windows 8 ~
