Is wireless bridge possible between different router brands

Hi,

I currently have two Netgear R6300v2 (upgraded from the Costco AC1450 versions) using sick Netgear firmware not one of the aftermarket options like DD-WRT or Tomato. One us acting as our main router, while the other is set as a wireless bridge to TV and streaming devices in a bedroom.

I'm strongly considering upgrading the router and one of the models I'm looking at is the Amped Wireless High Power AC2550 Wi-Fi Router with MU-MIMO (RTA2550). We do a lot of streaming and even in our little apartment, were have dead zones so I'm hoping to improve both signal strength and speed.

Netgear's firmware supports the wireless bridge mode natively and while this is probably a really stupid question, I was wondering if the two routers have to be the same brand in order to work with wireless bridge mode. Ideally, I'd like to just upgrade the router only and keep the Netgear R6300v2 as the wireless bridge and have it work with the new router. I'm hoping I'm not limited to only considering new Netgear routers for this to work.

Thanks so much!

Excellent! Thanks do much. Probably a silly question but each manufacturer only tells their features and I don't think really wants people to know that they can mix and match so it's not publicised a lot. I really appreciate your help!
