Hello

I watched some videos on YouTube about NUC and exists many videos about Intel NUC 13.
So far the latest release available. Pls, correct me If I am wrong.

I know that Intel stopped and gave this technology to Asus. It according with Intel kills its NUC line, but the tiny PC will live on.

My question is:
  • Is wise buy right now an Intel NUC 13 or should I wait the complete transition to Asus?
I am doing this question to take opportunity the coming holidays.

Thanks for your understanding

My .02 is that unless Asus does something significant with pricing, this is going to remain an item that costs more than it gives. The only time I have actually purchased these using Intel is when they come on some super good deal on such as hoot, etc. Many times, even then, they don't have memory or storage so even more incurred costs to get it running. (not even counting OS)
I think it completely worthwhile to consider some of the small form AMD PC of this nature. The pricing tends to be well better. Admittedly, I have not used one personally other than basic setup for someone else, but know that several of the members here have and use them on the daily.

A buddy of mine uses some older i3 and i5 ones for things like making a TV "smart" and he has one propped up as the Plex server alongside external storage drives. Completely hidden as well, which is another bonus with these. Only thing you can see is a USB dongle and cord.

Thanks for the replies.

Just being curious
  • Did AMD solve the heat situation?
I've always heard that it warms more than it should be and because this Mini-PC are smaller ... it is a concern for me.

My goal is acquire a solid Mini-PC for developing purposes, for long time, to use Linux either through VirtualBox or directly installed for Java/Spring developing.

Thank You.

My Beelink has a Ryzen 5 3550H

Using it right now (as HTPC), the CPU is at ~68C.
