Question is xfx a good gpu brand?

misguided?
because you have heard something in particular from someone in particular?

i used an XFX R9 290X for a few years gaming and it's still in operation in a web browser/media system that my mother uses at her home.
never had an issue with it and never saw any bad reviews related to their card's production.
had you bought it new or used?

bought it new towards the end of 2013,
used very frequently in a heavy gaming rig 'til sometime in 2017,
has been used regularly for video/movie content ever since.

why would you be "misguided" in relation to this particular company?
you don't mention anything you may have heard or anywhere you may have heard it.
im misguided bc xfx is a little cheaper than other brands but i want to buy xfx bc fits my budget for gpu upgrade

I had an XFX R9 290 Double Dissipation from new, 2014 - 2022. Physically it felt like really high quality, in design, materials and packaging. Performance was excellent which is one reason I kept it running so long, and I got a decent amount selling it on eBay to somebody who was also really impressed by it when using it to upgrade his daughter's computer.

By no stretch of the imagination was it cool and silent, but then R9 290s generally weren't.

I'd happily have bought XFX again, it's just at the time I was upgrading I got a better deal on a Sapphire card.

Yeah I have the 5500XT Thicc II card in my older HTPC. It's held up surprisingly well and I will definitely reuse it if I can.
