Hello,

I would like to isolate my work network from my home/personal network, both of which are currently set up on the same modem as follows.

Modem device from service provider: Arris Surfboard SBG6580
Home network router: TP link WDR3600
Work network router: Cisco Meraki

The modem has two ethernet ports. Work router is connected to one port (and then to work pc). Settings on it are unknown as its a blackboxed device set up by IT guy at work. My home router is plugged into the other port of the modem. It is configured through DHCP and NAT is turned on. Personal pcs are connected wirelessly/wired from this home router.

With this setup, are the home and work networks totally isolated from each other? Traffic from one network is not visible to the other and vice versa?

Solution
The device you have is actually a router and modem combined. If it was just a modem it would not work because you only get 1 IP from the ISP which means only 1 router can be connected to it.

Unless you have DMZ or port forwarding set your 2 network are isolated. From their viewpoint your 2 routers the network between them is internet and you can not see the local networks for the same reason you can not see your neighbors lan network.
