Today I recieved a T7400 from ebay and was so excited to put it in my laptop that I messed AS5 all over the thing and even on some of the pins... Panicked, I took out my bottle of 99.9% Isopropyl alcohol and proceeded to dump it all over both sides of the CPU. The CPU is now clean, but I am now worried that I might have caused damage.

Could someone tell me if it's possible that I could have damaged the CPU by splashing Isopropyl alcohol all over it? I know that people wash their CPUs off with hot water, submerge them in fluorinert, etc, but I am still too afraid to place it in my laptop to find out...

It's Possible That you may have damaged it, but if you did indeed use high purity rubbing alcohol, its not very likely. The residual alcohol most likely evaporated before it could cause corrosion.

You should be fine.

...As the Great Butthead from Beavis and Butthead always liked to say.....

...."FIRE, FIRE, FIRE, huh huh...huh huh....huh huh....."

....although it would be interesting to see the cpu flare up when it gets warm, you probably won't have that problem as long as you let it air out overnight...
