Issue Installing Crucial BX100 SSD

I'm trying to install a BX100 into a Dell Inspiron 15 3000 Series 3551

I clone the drive using Acronis True Image but then the OS (Windows 8.1) is unable to boot. I can't even do a clean install using the recovery media provided with the laptop because the drive isn't detected. I can see the drive and all the cloned partitions when I connect it via a USB adapter.

Any thoughts?

That is correct. It sees the standard hard drive that came with the laptop so I don't think it's a cable/physical connection issue.

No the SSD doesn't show up. Crucial claims that the BX100 is compatible with the Inspiron 15 3000 3551 on their website...

were you ever able to get this to work? I have a similar issue with my dell inspiron 11, 3000 and a crucial bx100.

Unfortunately, the chipset seems to be incompatible. I would recommend contacting dell and asking them for a specific ssd that is compatible because I never got the crucial one to work.
