Keyboard Microsoft SideWinder X6 was working fine. But since few month is changing the driver controller to generic. If I try to delete the controller and plug the keyboard it picks it as generic. If I force the controller to pick the SideWinder X6 controller driver, It works correctly. But after few seconds it returns back to generic. Any idea how to resolve this issue?

Okay, so it should work... it is listed on that chart as working with Mouse & Keyboard center version 3 and its latest version was released on 13th June

the latest version of Sidewinder drivers otherwise are dated 2013 and even though they say they are win 10, I suspect they win 8 as they made 2 years before Win 10 released

its not on list of unsupported so thats a good thing: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Microsoft_Mouse_and_Keyboard_Center

it might be because you are using Insider preview ( I found your other post: https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/insider/forum/insider_wintp-insider_install/issue-with-keyboard-controller-sidewinder-changing/c5b451fe-8405-4c2b-95e9-3d08f7f2e0db) as stranger things have happened.
Its very likely there aren't any Sidewinder drivers for win 10 and the ones you are using won't have been signed by MS to work in Win 10, so Windows is just refusing to use them. Since the Anniversary edition of win 10, drivers have to be approved to work with Windows 10 and if they aren't, it will not use them.

The keyboard, even though it still works for you (lucky person) is too old to use with Win 10. Or at least, the drivers are. It kind of sucks when its made by MS and they don't even support it. I had one of those, until it died. I was unhappy as they were/are good keyboards

Solutions... um, get a new Keyboard or Go back to using win 7/8 if you don't want to change hardware. Good luck finding another kb that lets you detach the number pad.

The hardware is a supported device.Supported devices list
https://www.microsoft.com/accessories/en-us/support/troubleshooting/mouse/supported-devices

and here is the link for the controller.

But still, after installing the driver, it returns to a generic one.
