So I've been trying to fix this issue with routhing my PS4 audio through the headset plugged into my PC for a few days and was hoping maybe any of you guys can see an issue here I've missed. So almost all guides on routing ps4 audio to your PC state that the easiest way to do it is via these steps: plug aux cord into PS4 controller and line in port on back of PC > change all PS4 audio to output through headphones > go into line in device in windows sound settings and tick the listen to this device option.

Issue I'm having with these steps is that when I plug the aux cord into my PC the line in device doesn't show as plugged in. I've tried using every other port, checked that the device isn't disabled or hidden, swapped the aux cord for a brand new one. Basically i'm lost and out of ideas as to why this won't work.

I've attached a few a screenshots of the sound properties on my PC when the controller is plugged in. Let me know what any of you think :)

when plugging an AUX cord like that into the line in on your PC, you need to have a specific cable for that.

Simplest and easiest way is to use Remote Play for PS4.

Download it from here.

load it up and plug in your PS4 controller to PC with USB cable.
Then go to settings of Remote Play and sign into your account.
Change the streaming resolution to the lowest resolution it allows

Then make sure both your PS4 and PC are hard lined to your network with ethernet cables. This is important so that you remove the possibility of any lag or latency delay between your controller inputs as well as audio/video delay between the console and the PC.

once you connect to your PS4 you can simply downsize the remote play window (do not close it of course) and you will hear audio coming through your PC but will be looking at your TV/monitor that it's plugged into and all your controller inputs will be sent to the PS4 through the connection on the PC.

Easy peasy lemon squeezy.

P.S. - doing it this way also allows you to use whatever microphone you have available for your PC as the mic on PS4 since it will use your default microphone on PC to be mic input to your PS4 in remote play.

So you can still talk to people in either party chats or in game chat systems all from the PC.
