Issue with in game lag.

Hello all. I'm experiencing high CPU usage while gaming which I'm assuming is the cause for my in game lag as it is the only issue I have been able to find. My question is kinda broad but just looking for some advice in general. I'm on a budget of course and my next step was to purchase a new GPU as I'm still running a GTX 650 ti. I assumed before doing any digging that this was the reason for my issues in game. My CPU is AMD FX-4300. Using HWMonitor all four cores go to max %100 usage while in game. I've used task manage while in game as well to determine if any other programs were using a large amount of the CPU and I could not find anything. My question is, is it possible my CPU is the cause for the in game issues? Is there anything I can do about it aside from the obvious upgrade. Thanks!

By looking your specs, it does look like your CPU is the issue. Since when you have CPU usage at 100% during gaming, your CPU performance is maxed out and there's little you can do to improve it. Also, do note that going with new GPU won't help since your CPU will be maxed out with new GPU as well.

There are few things you can do without spending money:
* reduce in-game graphics and/or resolution
While the image isn't as pretty with lower graphics/reso, it's 1st thing to do to improve game performance and get rid of lag.
* close all unnecessary programs before starting to game
While there may not be single program that uses your CPU a lot, but when e.g Discord uses 5%, Chrome uses 10%, Skype uses 7%, Antivirus uses 15%, that all adds up.
