Hello saw this thread now after my MSI GF63 Thin fan had a weird noice aswell, but now out of the blue has completely shut off and wont re-start. You gave some good tips if it did restart, but what if it dosent? Tried the MSI center to turn on cooler boost to see if it helped, but no respons at all. Cant seem to find any answeres other places

answers to what?
you're not asking any specific question.
my MSI GF63 Thin fan had a weird noise
usually related to bearings failing
or possibly blades rubbing on something.

if the fan has now stopped working altogether, it most likely has died.
get a replacement fan.

if the system is still under warranty, contact the manufacturer for repair/replacement.
if not, find a replacement either through MSI parts service or a 3rd party retailer.

I would guess the first one you said makes the most sense about it either rubbing on something or bearing failure since it made some weird noises before it shut off. If I put my ear close to the fan I can hear that it tries to turn on now and then, but dosent. So its not dead persey. I am currently in Ghana as an exchange student so not sure about replacement or repair. You know if it would be possible to open it myself and fix it? Thanks for the replies man!

sure you could.
but, you would be voiding any warranty offered by the manufacturer.
when was it purchased?

you can remove the fan and measure it's dimensions yourself, then shop for a replacement.

or you could contact MSI support and have them lead to you any parts/accessories online store they may have.
then you would be ordering an exact replacement.

It was purchased a little under two months ago, I would just send it for a repair or gotten sent a new part to fix it myself, but since I am in Ghana and not Norway I dont know the posibilites of that yet. Have sent MSI a ticket, so will have more answeres when they reply to that.
