[SOLVED] issue with subwoofer

i have 2 speakers and a Yamaha YST SW012 Subwoofer which came with a subwoofer cable. in hopes of getting them both to work as a 2.1 setup i bought a sound card and found out upon arrival that all ports, including the sub port, were 3,5mm. i bought a RCA-to-3,5mm jack converter for the subwoofer cable yet the subwoofer is still not recognized
the subwoofer itself is functional and is powered directly from the wall.
anyone know why?

Which sound card did you get?

Often with PC audio, LFE and centre shares the same jack and depending on audio software can usually swap these channels around. See if that helps.

I'm using the Creative Blaster Audigy Fx 5.1
can you expand more on LFE and center sharing the same jack?

Jack definition for #5 jack (orange), centre and subwoofer use this jack if were PC speakers. Since you have a standalone sub, check Creative settings to see if there's an option to swap the channels.
