Just the same issue as below here:

https://support.google.com/chrome/thread/223352162/google-profile-icon-not-showing-on-chrome?hl=en

There is another similar post where someone suggested turning off/on something to do with third-party cookies. Neither it nor the above changed anything.

Tried this as well:

No joy.

Specifically if we open a new tab and then go to Gmail, for instance, the icon shows and you can then change user and go to the other email or calendar, etc. That user icon used to show up in any newly opened tab.

Windows 10 Pro 22H2 OS Build 19045.3930
i5 8400 based build. If you need other system details let me know.

As above, tried the things suggested in the support google links, did a reset of browser, signed out and back in, power cycle on PC....how can I fix this?

Thank you for that suggestion. I tried turning off sync. I actually signed out of everything and signed back in as well. I am a bit hesitant to attempt to delete and then re-download Chrome due to the issues that might cause on this end and for others in the office.

Of note, the "profile" image shows correctly, the one to the right of the address bar. The issue is regarding the larger icon that would show to the right of the "3x3" selector in the top right of the actual window.
Normally you can click that icon:

Let us say you are bossman@gmail.
You click that icon and other accounts that are signed in or the option to sign in other accounts are there.
You want to open worker@gmail so you click on the icon for "bossman" and down below that you can switch to "worker" while still actually signed into the "bossman" profile.

The only way I can see that lower right icon is to specifically open Gmail, Calendar, or other specific Google application/page. Opening Google.com does NOT show that icon like it does for every other computer using this same method. This PC showed it correctly until a day or so ago.

I have run DISM/sfc, I tried to restart the windows update, checked for current version of Chrome.

yeah, the top one shows me as Person1 for some reason. I know the one you mean, it has my right username under photo.
the top one here

its your user on chrome, Firefox has similar. It saves all your passwords and bookmarks. Means if you logon to any computer it will try to install all your stuff.

I don't know about chrome but if you try to uninstall Firefox it offers the choice to reset the browser instead, I had to do that last week as forums were showing odd. It basically runs the import wizard again... made a lovely mess of my bookmarks but fixed the other problem.

Awright, just spoke about the issue with one of my IT professional friends. Apparently, this issue commonly presents where you have multiple users on the same sign in alongside individual sign in causing a corruption in the App Data/User files. It can be fixed but takes a lot of time running through various folders, hidden and not, as well as some work with the registry. (We all share a profile for the company calendar)

He mentioned that it typically takes him an hour or two to fix and he has an idea of what he is doing. The recommend was for me to pull a clean install. This particular PC is due for the W11 update anyway and have not done it yet due to the footwork involved. This situation presents a good opportunity for said, so my tomorrow will be logging some after hours work.

Got it repaired.

I went ahead and set TPM so that I could do the in place update from W10 to W11 for licensure. That went pretty smooth and quickly. Since the assistant does it in such a way that you don't lose your apps and programs I was really reticent to want to pull a clean install at that point. I followed up on some notes I was given about deleting the google/user/appdata location(s) and felt fairly confident about it, so I went ahead and deleted Chrome, deleted all those files and re-installed. The user icons are working properly with the opening of a new tab now.

Total side note, the insufficient partition thing came up about WindowsRE on this borked update. I went ahead into disk part and got that all straightened out so now I have the PC running well on W11, Windows Update issue resolved, and a happy camper once again.
