Hey Guys -

I've got an MSI X470 GAMING Plus Max (MS-7B79) motherboard which includes a couple of M.2 slots - one of which is occupied by an ADATA SX8800PNP (476 GB) SSD. It is not the disk my OS is installed on. Recently, I've had issues where the following occurs 2-3 times a week:
  1. Bluescreen / Reboot
  2. Upon coming back up, the disk isn't listed in My Computer, diskpart, etc...
  3. I choose to shutdown, drain flea power, then turn back on
  4. Disk appears as it should, is assigned drive letter, and works fine
All drivers are up to date except that the M.2 controller is listed as a generic "Standard NVM Express Controller." I've tried updating it using the "AM4 RAID Driver" for the MB on MSI's site, but when I do, the disk never appears - I assume due to the SSD not being in a RAID. The downloaded driver comes with many infs (in folders listed below) - most of which install for the device, but all yield the same result of not showing the disk upon restart. The only way I can get it to reappear is to go back to the "Standard NVM Express Controller" driver.
  • WTx64
    • NVMe_CC
      • rcbottom
      • rccfg
      • rcraid
    • NVMe_DID
      • rcbottom
      • rccfg
      • rcraid
    • RAID_SATA
      • rcbottom
      • rccfg
      • rcraid
First, which of the above should I be using? Also, is any other configuration needed to get it to appear with the new / updated driver once installed? Thanks, guys

Solution
While MSI has many ADATA drives listed as compatible, oddly enough they do not have the ADATA SX8800PNP . Your best course of action would be to contact MSI support for more complete driver information than trial and error.

If it is a new drive, I would return it and buy a drive that comes from a manufacturer that supplies drivers, such as Samsung.
