Issues Overclocking me Athlon x4 860K

I am trying to OC my Amd Athlon X4 860K in Amd Overdrive and any time I try to clock it anything above the base clock (3.7) my screen turns black and flickers and I turn off my system. Am I doing it wrong or is there an issue with my processor.

Don't use overdrive. Do it from BIOS instead.

Ok I tried that and at first it was doing the same thing. Then I tried taking out my cmos battery and unplugging my PC for a minute and then tried OC again and it worked.
