Good Evening

I am losing my mind here a bit.

I have

Asus Prime X570 - PRO
3900X (no OC ) CPU
2x 3090 GPUS
32GB DDR4 RAM

recently my System fails to boot and is stuck on the orange ID light ( DRAM) always on.

now I reboot PC and boot it again it works fine.

Sometimes it needs to flush Bios and it works fine for a few days then it starts to happen again

I tried to seat ram in different configurations same thing.

Got another 32GB set and it does the same thing.

Both sets of ram the same speeds tho have different timings tho they were pairs ( 16x2 ) and (16x2)

Reupdated Chipset drivers (BIOS)

Could it be that MOBO is on it's way out?

I was thinking to upgrade CPU alone to AMD 5970X but if the board is going Kaput then might need to think about DDR5 system.

I do a fair bit of 3D modeling and rendering hence i use 2 cards and need Ryzen9 ( Threadripper is kind out of the budget atm)

Any help would be appreciated!

Thanks

E

Start by simplifying. One graphics card and one DIMM. Does that work ?
Can you borrow a lower wattage 3000 series graphics card? If you are having a power supply issue, a low wattage card might work when the 3090 won't.

Thing works. but it is temperamental. like I can work on it with no issues all day. Render on both cards at 99% ( checking against the MSI monitoring tool). then i turn it off and it does not play ball on the next boot. I force shut down and boot gain and it goes.

when i last played with the setup and tried to troubleshoot it wanted to bood on 1 DIMM. Both GPUS on.

Then i rebooted and booteed with 2 DIMMS and it also worked. Hence i am knocking my head.

Sorry i only have the 3090's on me

I got 1200 W Thermaltake and when I did the calculations it was more than enough.

Never had issues. only a recent thing.

PC was offline for like 2 weeks while I was away and I booted it and it started to happen.

I was kind of thinking could be some static damage on board or so

Static damage would only happen if someone touched something with low humidity. Sitting untouched would more likely have power supply damage from thunderstorms or other power issues.

I need to see if I can get a spare 1200W PSU for a week and see if the issue still happens.

Something is 100% going off the rails atm. was kind of thinking one of the DIMM lanes might be playing up
the 3090's are water-cooled with EISWOLF coolers ( kind of AIO's but GPU) from Alphacool)
But I checked and there were no leaks not even a bit from joins or quick-release ports.

Tho this started to happen before I even Installed those.

Right. I did not manage to get a spare PSU however oddly issue has gone away.

now I seem to have another issue on my hands...

Will close this thread

Thanks for your help
