Issues with installing 8.1 after new HD install.

I have a Lenovo Idea centre A730, and had to buy a new hard drive after the original was damaged. I installed the hard drive and have attempted to install windows 8.1. I was able to access the bios to change the boot order and start the install, which started fine. I turned my back and came back to it after several minutes and found just a black screen. I rebooted and got a screen telling my the os couldn't load and needs to be repaired, then gives the option of starting in safe mode, but when I select F5 to start in safe mode with networking, it goes back to a blank screen and nothing happens. Suggestions?

Try reinstalling it. It may have not installed right or it has been corrupted somehow.

Just do whatever you did to install it.

I know that seems like a stupid question. I should have clarified.
I installed it by changing the boot order in the bios to start the cd drive first. The settings are the same, but now it simply tries to load windows up to the point that it stalls. It gives no options to redo or undo what's already been done, and when I try to go to safe mode, nothing happens. It's stuck in a loop.

Try putting win 10 from the cd to a spare flash drive (4gb or more) using another computer and booting from there.
