Hey all,

I'm wondering if there are any IT laptop enthusiasts around? I’m in the market for a business/IT laptop. However with the little time I’ve had to do product research, I haven’t found anything with the specifications I need that isn’t backordered. I’m wondering if anyone here could recommend a laptop?

The specs I need are:
-WiFi 6E (not WiFi 6 - need this for WiFi testing so this is 100% mandatory)
-Current gen or one gen old — i5/i7 or Ryzen 5/7. Most tasks I do aren’t heavily multithreaded so fewer cores and higher clock speeds would definitely be preferred here if possible
-256GB (or more) NVMe SSD
-16GB RAM (or more)
-At least 1 port each USB C and USB A both onboard
-Decent battery life
-Ideally USB C charging and ethernet onboard, and a centered trackpad - Would be great to have these, but can look past these if all the other specs match up.
-Does not need great graphics performance, will not be used for gaming or anything graphics intensive. Integrated graphics would be fine.
-Windows 10 or 11

I'm hoping to find this spec of laptop in the $700-$1000 range, and refurbished/used would be acceptable provided the specs are right.

I'd really appreciate any input here.

Thank you for the suggestion, Eximo. As you are aware there are a lot of options out there. In this regard, I should have been more specific: I'm willing to overlook the USB C charging, ethernet port, and centered trackpad if there aren't any other options. However, I am wondering if you or anybody else has in mind that perfect laptop that does have all of the options I specified. Thank you again for your input and I am continuing the search myself as well.

HP maybe? They tend to be a little backwards when it comes to design so are more likely to have all the discrete ports and a centered USB trackpad. Been a while since I had one in hand though.

Generally just use Dell. Have a Latitude 3520 right now. Does not have a centered trackpad. i7-1165G7, Nvidia MX350, 32GB of memory and a 512GB SSD. Gets the job done.

But in that price range you aren't going to be able to look at the nicer ultrabooks and premium offerings. But those tend to divert everything to Type-C anyway, lucky to get one Type-A port. Ethernet might be a dongle.
