I want one service to deliver everything to every capable device whether it's movies, TV shows, games, music, books, magazines, comics etcetera. I don't want to have to memorise which device and service I got each and every thing from.

then i guess you are the only one who likes apple's crappy Itunes program

Wow sounds like a good idea at first ... but i just some how don't see valve slapping a full retail license of 3ds max , on their store at it's WHOPPING full retail price of $5000 USD. though it would be interesting to see ... Me personally i always thought Autodesk should look at a MMO model for selling buisness software. IE licenses it by the month at a much reduced cost. Say 10-15 bucks a month, It would expand their buisness astronomically and secure their future in 3d modeling.

many cheaper 3d modeling packages have become widely popular these days such as blender or milk shape, simply because most folks can afford them. Though Most art and game design schools still teach mostly in 3ds max (at my school we get the latest 3d max student licenses for free).
honestly i think Autodesk should revive gmax. back in early 2000's they rally hooked a lot of people into 3ds max ofering gmax for free, (it was essentially a watered down version of 3ds max

I am curious to see just what sort of 3d modeling software steam will be offering. and better yet will it be as powerful and flexible s 3ds max is ? i know a lot of 3rd party modders and modder communities swear by blender, but after learning 3ds max and Maya i was not impressed with blender/

To me it sounds like DEV tools for content creating and maybe game development...

[citation][nom]Bloob[/nom]I already let Steam control some of my games, no way am I going to let their hands on other software too.[/citation]

I'm kind of with you on that one. Also, what if your account somehow got hacked & you couldn't log into Steam? Then you can't use that expensive software?

No I don't want to be stuck having to use Apple hardware. I heard Apple won't allow you to watch your entertainment in HD if you try to watch it on PC.

SWEET!!! just gotta wait for those summer sales where i can get something useful like an older but useful version of photoshop for $5.

Steam is another site that wants to be buried deep in your personal business.

I'm not sure why someone didn't come along back in the early days and de-throne Steam; it has long been a sloppy business. People think they are good, but they aren't, they're just convenient. Not even all that convenient - if you've bought games from them, you know what a pain in the rear getting a product code to work can be. (Yes , this is a Steam thing, they are the ones that haven't done the work needed to make the process as seamless as possible.)

I'm not interested in buying anything from Steam, not even games anymore. Newell proved to me he doesn't deserve the respect of businessmen or gamers.
