They advertised the game for £14.99 but have advanced billed me for £16.99,
which makes a total of £18.99 including postage and packing.

ie payment £14.46
Postage and packing £1.69

Then they add the VAT (which I thought had been included and that is £2.83.

I'm going out to Game and buying a copy first thing Friday instead. At
least I won't have to wait for the postman.

The APR for the game is £19.99 - not enough in it to make Amazon's offer
worth while.

The trouble is that shops in the uk tend to keep to the official date of
release.
We tend to stick to the rules here and make a big thing of releasing stuff
after midnight so that products get maximum publicity and tv coverage.
eg Harry Potter and games consoles.

Let us know on Thursday if you get if early!!

Who did you order from?

If Amazon.co.uk I will complain to them! Otherwise I'll copy you!

You might not have to complain. I just checked Amazon and its still the
same price I paid even with posting. Sure you didn't have any gift options
selected?

play.com isn't a shop - it's one of those web-based retailers with their
offices in the Channel Islands, I think. So they avoid VAT and don't play
by the rules.

Yes it will , but I still think that Amazon should have indicated that the
price was not inclusive of VAT.

I will read the game pamphlet before I go home though whilst drinking a cup
of cafe latte at John Lewis! next door.

Amazon has frequently been accused of giving different prices to
different people.

They've just lost all my orders, Strategy guides, Terry Pratchett pre-orders
et al.
I was just being lazy asI live in the middle of the city and all the above
can be got just down the road easily and the books usually 30% off what's
more.
I've ordered the strategy guide from "Game"s internet site though as that
gets sold out in a few hours of availability!

Amazon let me down the Sims 1 expansions as well as I "combined orders" and
could have waited weeks for the order to arrive. I realised this when three
days had passed after the release!

I've never had any problems with Amazon. No, I tell a lie, I had one of the
Sims EP's delivered but there was no serial code in the pack so I had to go
out and buy it locally. Not even Amazons fault but its the only thing
that's gone wrong.
When I've tried to use other websites its always gone bad, from faulty goods
to missing orders.
Woollies always have it on the day but usually have it at top price. Good
luck with the hunt.

That's some serious hate right there LOL. Dont worry, there have been
hacked exe's for both TS2 and UNI even though we didnt need them.
Anyway, it doesnt influence your game... try to avoid following your
sims into the bathroom LOL

I don't really care about it one way or the other, but I do think this
decision is going to cost Maxis in the long wrong. There were lots of
people who used the thing that patched the .exe, and all of those people had
problems when they went to install the patch (and maybe University), since
the .exe was not what the installer/patcher was expecting.

ROFL! I'm sorry, but that has to be something your spellchecker stuck
in there. It just struck me funny. A long wrong. Makes me think of a
wrong long dong or something.

Just received an email from Game. The book and game are on their way in
order to get to me on Friday!

Started feeling lazy again as buying it from a shop and buying a coffee
after will cost more than postal delivery!
