I've tried using the CHKDSK on my laptop and now it's saying unable to obtain a handle on the event log? Is their anyway I can fix my laptop without using a disc? Please help

Reboot and try again if you did not. What are you trying to "fix" or just trying to fix not being able to run chkdsk?
