Question JBL GT BassPro 12 car sub doesn’t turn on

Hey guys,

My JBL GT BassPro 12 sub that I installed in the trunk of my 2012 Ford Fusion has been working great for a couple months now.
But it’s summer time now and I’ve discovered a new issue.
Whenever the temperature is really hot outside I noticed that my sub doesn’t turn on until 10-15 minutes after I start driving. It only seems to happen when it’s hot out. Is there anyway it can overheat? Or what possibly could be the issue?

From what you are saying, my assumption is that the heat is causing it to stay off. Perhaps some manner of thermal protection?

Do you have the sun cover for the back area installed? Being out of direct sunlight, if such is the case, might help.
Can you confirm that it is indeed heat and not some other issue? Like, if you park under a shade tree or in a multi level deck is the issue still present?

@punkncat when parked In the garage and on colder days it works fine. My sub is In the trunk so there is no window to cover. Any other possible solutions?
