I currently cannot afford a 480GB SSD and thought that I could maybe just get a 240 one and use it until I can get another one and combine it with the first one I would have bought and would amount to a couple of dollars less than if I bought the 480GB one. I am well aware that it does not increase speed but I mean, come on... they are SSD'S . I would also buy identical SSD's from the same brand and same model.

Is this ok?

Solution
for JBOD they do not even have to be the same type/size.
Just a Bunch Of Drives- acting as one.
As long as you understand the limitations of a JBOD setup then it is fine.
IDK if the JBOD will be bootable though. I would only use it as storage not a working install drive
