J&R Music World is a relative Giant in the audio/video and camera business. I place orders with them from time to time, (just bought a receiver last week). Never had any problems with them. It's not a place I would think of getting PC parts from though.

They may well be like a Wal Mart.
Prices are low, selection is very good, service is...I don't know.
All my orders have shipped quickly and accurately with no problems.
If service is an issue, then definitely don't buy computer parts from them!

I know I love Newegg, so I wont change stores. I wont even shop at CompUSA, EBGames, Circuit Sh-city (sorry for the Shlur), and Best Buy unless they have some crazy sale going on.

Id probably buy DVDs from the above places, but I have a netflix subscription. I tend to download music for free, except for a few artists where I want the absolute best recordings.

Its not that any other store is bad. Its just that NewEgg is so amazing. I never have had problems with them, but I have had problems with the equipment they sell. NewEgg has always come through, replacing these Items with ones that work. They always wave their restocking fee, and if there is the slightest problem (Delivery is a day late because FedEx screws up) they credit your account. They send me Tee Shirts, hats, etc. for free.

I have had so many issues with my latest computer gear that I can not even count, and every time NewEgg was involved in the transaction, they come out flying.

I will most likely be buying my AV Receiver their, if they are competitive. I dont mind spending an extra $10 for the thing, but generally they are the lowest prices on the market. Then again, there are a few audio stores around that will allow me to home audition equipment.

Yeah, me too...
Most of my computer $$$ go through Newegg.
I've had good luck with Zipzoomfly and Computers4sure as well as a couple others, but if Newegg has it I buy it there.
The only local computer retailer I find worthwhile is Microcenter. Good selection and they take back anything. Fry's also sometimes has a deal or 2 on sale.

Audio equipment is different though. J&R has worked well for me, mainly for stereo equipment, headphones, etc. I build my own speakers so that's an entirely different market channel (Madisound, Zalytron, Parts-Express, etc.).

Last month I picked up a 32" Sharp LCD-HDTV from Costco of all places. Great pricing, terrible selection. I asked about their return policy if I didn't like the TV - she said no questions asked, no time limit.
