i hope my CPU is not damaged because when i closed the lever on the gigabyte ds3, i heard a little creaking noise

I have a DS3 motherboard and I too experienced that 'creaking' noise. I did not like it at first, but everything seemed fine. I have not had issues thus far and it is my first build.

If you are still getting trouble, I would try using some other RAM since the DS3 seems to have a few issues with some RAM. My motherboard had some issues with my OCZ RAM, but I could get into the BIOS to change the voltage.

What RAM do you have anyways?

Maybe try unplugging everything and replugging everything back in, it helps sometimes to find that you didn't plug in everything correctly. IT's simple yes, but helpful nonetheless.

I do not think that resetting the bios would help since you haven't even been able to boot up or anything....Try removing the battery though.

Pictures may help.

OMG this is his first system. Don't tell him to short anything! OMG so many chances for irrevocable damage!

All the guy is talking about is touching the power pins with a flathead screwdriver to turn the pc on. Nothing bad can come of that, as far as I know.

Did you connect the extra power cable to the video card???All newer cards these days require an extra power connection to run properly.Goodluck.

Pci-e provides a certain level of power through the slot, you get it simply by plugging a board into the slot. Some devices like the 8800gts need more than that, and have a 6 pin plug to which you need to attach the appropriate 6 pin psu cable. All 8800gts boards need this connection(8800gtx needs two). It is located at the end if the board, most distant from the monitor attachment end. If this plug does not have power, the board will not work.

Yeah, ok. Sure. When I built my first system, I wouldn't have gotten near it with a screwdriver. I guess I'm just superimposing my thoughts in my posts.

GEOfelt - i have connected the pci-e cable on the 8800GTS, plugged in the monitor and nothing seems to come up, the motherboard cannot be broke because everything turns on, LED's, HDD, DVDRW.

Look I had the same problem with my 1950xtx, get a pci video card, pop it in and install windows... install the drivers for the nvidia card and then put the nvidia card in. Heck, you can return the pci-card if it doesn't work.

It was a known problem with the 1950xtx release because the hardware was too new for the system to see.. or some hub-bub which I didn't really believe, but I had to get a PCI card to install on a fresh system.
