my video is grainy, am i doing something wrong? watching a bluray (sarenity (joss whedon)) and its grainy, but also ever since I got this new monitor, netflix has been very grainy as well... is it just because its 27 inches instead of my old 19 inch, and now Im seeing how bad the quality really is? and if so why is it grainy when I make the screen half the size of my screen... it looks terrible, is it the ati avivo or because im using powerdvd 10? can't be it happens in netflix too... I think it might have something to do with my ati catalyst settings? i have 2xati radeon 5770 in cross fire on 27inch 1080 viewsonic monitor... and I can't watch my show anymore because the grainy nature of them is driving me nutss... please HELP! even a link to something to read to learn myself would be wonderous...

I had this issue as well, but I determined it was an issue with the video card rather than the monitor. When I connected the monitor using the HDMI cable, I had a one-inch border around the whole image. I adjusted the overscan in the Catalyst Control Center and although it got rid of the one-inch border, the fonts and everything looked like garbage on this monitor. When I used the DVI cable, the image was perfect. I could plug my stand-alone blu-ray player directly into the monitor with an HDMI connection and it looked just fine.

Since I use audio off my motherboard, it wasn't a big deal to not carry the audio to the monitor and the DVI cable suited the situation just fine.

I don't mean to hijack the thread, but may you can offer some insite?

My monitor is 1080p and the resolution in CCC is 1080p, but when I use the HDMI cable the 1-inch border appears. Is there a different way to go about it than adjusting the under/overscan to maintain the clarity I get when using the DVI cable?

I have the same issue with the 1" border around the screen and a very washed out blurry picture when using the HDMI connection to my PC. I have a Syncmaster 27" Samsung monitor. When using the DVI connection the picture is crisp and flawless. When I connect my XBOX to the HDMI port of the monitor, that also looks crisp. The problem comes when i connect the PC with the HDMI. For reasons involving the use of my DVI port for something else I would really like to keep the PC hooked up using the HDMI port if there is a solution. Seems like no reason it shouldn't look great with HDMI, just like it does with the DVI.

Any thoughts appreciated.

Thanks,

Matt

this is a monitor. Samsung 27inch Syncmaster series. Blurry text, not sharp color at all and little black border around. When I connect the monitor to my XBOX via HDMI it's crystal clear though. Also crystal clear as I mentioned before if I connect to the PC with DVI. Any thoughts are appreciated. There has to be something wrong, this is too nice a product to not work with the HDMI to PC

Have you tried playing a BluRay movie on the monitor???*

I have a similar setup where either my PC or PS3 can be switched to display on my monitors and BluRay looks amazing.

*You don't need a BluRay player and BluRay disc (my PC doesn't have one but my PS3 does). For my PC I download a BluRay movie and use a free copy of VLC Media Player.

not sure if a solution to your problem bro but surely the solution to many searching is that they should turn off their image enhancing from their monitor's setting menu which can be accessed from the buttons on the monitor! (sorry for my bad english, just want to help to people like me who want direct information). cheers!
