Ok, I waited for months for a deal to come around for a new CPU. I was using an AMD FX 4300 for a while, but it wasn't up to par with my demands. I stream a little to twitch in my free time and it just wasn't cutting it rendering gameplay and encoding for twitch. Found my deal on the 8320 and everything I read said it would fit the bill pretty well.

So, I mainly stick to Arma 3 as my go to game, deviate to DayZ sometimes. Since I installed the 8320 I can't find a single server online (either game) to give me more than 7fps, even on the lowest possible settings. I updated all drivers, went nuts through settings, nothing at all works . Its looking like I should have stuck with the fx4300, it got me 25+ even while streaming on med-high settings.

MoBo- MSI 970 Gaming
GPU- MSI r9 270x

My temps never really go above 45C, typically hover around somewhere in the 20s.

TL;DR
FX8320 sucks in comparison to FX4300 when playing Arma 3 and DayZ. Cant get above 7fps. Need help desperately.

Solution

You need to actually run some tests and see if you are getting thermal throttling of the vrm section of that board with that 8 core cpu. MSI uses really weak mosfets and cheaps out in this regard. Their boards look nice though. 😉

Solution

He shouldn't have to do this. His cpu is the same exact thing with just two extra modules. If he changed boards than a re-install would be in order.
