I have just upgraded my old GTX 960 to a GTX 1070. I was planning on using the 960 as a dedicated physx card. However it does not fit anymore along side the 1070. I do have an old GTX 460 tho that fit in no problem. My question is is it even worth it to use the 460 as a dedicated physx card with the 1070? A friend of mine said it would actually make things worse, but anther said every little but helps.

The 460 will make things worse. However, there aren't that many games that actually use PhysX thanks to AMD cards not having the technology. If you have a GTX 1070, I'm not sure you need to use the extra power and introduce the extra heat just to get an extra 3-5 FPS in games that actually support PhysX (there aren't really that many).

*sigh* Figures I just finished reorganizing everything to get both cards to fit, that 1070 is a monster card. I suppose I will take it back out now. If I played with it a little more and got the 960 inside would it be worth it then? or still just a minor gain if any?

I only know of six games that actually use PhysX. In those games, you may see a 5 FPS increase by using GTX 960 (or even another 1070) as PhysX and this also applies to the 1070 because simply running PhysX is not enough to use more than 15% of either card. Because it's such a small load, I don't find it worth it to use a second card since it's going to run at stock TDP but you don't get to use all that power.
