Just wondering about your thoughts on this PC

All of the specs seem solid on this pc, and i'm sure the price will go WAY up, but is there some kind of catch with this GPU or MOBO or something i'm missing? Would it be completely upgradable in the future?

I'm not terribly interested in that computer too much, because i'm sure it will go far beyond my budget, which is porbably around 500-700 USD. Obviously trying to shy away from 700, but it is what it is. Well, as far as resolution goes, the higher the better. I would suggest building your own because you won't get un-necessary parts for gaming. For example, if you buy that computer you're going to pay extra for that 16gb of ram which you won't even use.

I agree with you on that computer, i was just curious. See above for my budget and my build. My budget would be nice if it included an OS, doesn't have to include a monitor, but keyboard & mouse would be nice.

And then you can just add an aftermarket cpu cooler in the future to overclock the 8320.

for $451, thats a decent deal. the 8350 is a good part but yah. too much ram, and 2133 is ovrkill outside an apu. case is crappy to work inside. cooler is not much different from the stock.

but you aren't going to be able to beat that fr $451...likeky it'll go for at least 800 though

Wow, I'm quite impressed with this honestly. Any reason why you prefer Windows 8? I've been struggling with that OS decision. Overall though, I really like what you've done with that build!

Windows 8.1 offers many advantages over Windows 7. It boots much quicker, has a long support period, has better security, is better optimized, etc.
The only reason people tend to stick with 7 is the interface. However, there are many free programs on the internet that can make it look like Windows 7 again.

I agree with you 100%. That PC is more or less a reference to be honest. I'm relatively new to this and it's nice to have a gauge on what is really necessary, what's not smart, and what's just overkill, Thank you!

I'm perfectly fine with the Win8 interface, I just don't know much of the differences, but that makes much more sense. Also, correct me if I'm wrong, but I heard that BF4 is more optimized towards AMD and/or Win8? Is that just bs or? Just out of curiosity. Thank you very much though! Your build is very nice and I think i could squeeze that. Seems very solid. Thanks again!

This is a nice build too! Relatively similar to realchaos' build and to where mine was headed. Hmm, the decisions are killing me.

BF4 should be the same on both Windows 7 and 8.1.
I do know that BF4 will take advantage of Mantle, which only AMD R series gpu will have.
However, we are not yet sure on how much of a performance increase Mantle will provide. Still, there's no NVIDIA gpu at that price range that will beat the r9-270.

basically i just tweaked a few things to throw in a 270x. if you want to overclock a normal 270 just throw in a cheaper non oc 270 and the price will come down.

i'd stick with win7... win 8 while technically well performing has a crappy gui. why should users have to go out of the way to download things to fix the system to make it look like win7? obviously that means the gui is an issue.

There is nothing wrong with Windows 8.1. People only go and download a program to make Windows 8.1 look like Windows 7 is because they don't like the interface. Microsoft presented a different approach to their operating system, but people dislike the new look because they are too used to the Windows 7 look.
Right now, I don't see any advantage in going with Windows 7 other than saving 5 minutes from downloading a program. The advantages of Windows 8.1 simply out-weighs spending five minutes to download a program and set it all up.

Ah, okay. Yeah, I couldn't find a NVIDIA gpu anywhere near the price range and performance of the 270. So, if i were to build that computer you put together, what kind of performance would i be looking at? For example, runnable and playable settings with solid FPS for games like BF3/BF4, Borderlands 2, Metro 2033, Crysis 3, Assassins Creed IV, etc. Newer games like those?

You shouldn't expect great performance in high end games like Crysis 3 with the R9-270.
I would expect high settings for BF4 and about med-high settings for Crysis 3/Metro 2033.
