K70 LUX vs RGB Strafe

As title says, which is better? If I went for the LUX I would have to get the Red Switches. If I went for the RGB Strafe I would get the Brown Switches. I like the RGB Lighting better but I don't like the white on the side. I like the design of the LUX but am unsure about red switches. I play FPS games.

I am pretty disappointed with the K70. I did a ton of research before buying, and really want to like the keyboard but it is terrible.

Build quality seems solid for the base and all the letter and numerical keys, but my space bar rattles like hell. It feels really loose and cheap. The backspace key also makes a loud rattling sound.

The other keys feel great when typing, and are pretty quiet, but the constant rattle on the space is no good.

I was willing to look past the rattling, but what is even worse is that the software simply does not work. Every time my PC loads up the software it crashes and the RGB lighting freezes or simple goes all red.

I spent several hours researching the problem, installing, uninstalling, repairing, but nothing fixes it. So, I cannot use any profiles, customize the RGBs and the keyboard constantly freezes.

This is not acceptable for a premium keyboard that costs $160 USD. If you go to the Corsair support forums you will find a bunch of people commenting that they cannot get the software working either. The K95, K70, Strafe RGB all rely on the same buggy software.

I just requested a return to Amazon and ordered a Razer Ornata instead. I also tested out a Logitec G810 Orion Spectrum at a local shop, and the build quality was solid and the romer g keys were nice. I use Logitec software for my mouse and never had a single issue.

I will not be buying any peripherals from Corsair in the future.

Firstly, I don't know what your talking about my space-bar is extremely sturdy, sturdier than any keyboard i used. Secondly, the release models had stabilizer issues on my rapidfire I did have that issue they replaced it and every large key feels crisp light and sturdy. Furthermore, you're probably using the old cue software make sure to delete that version and download cue 2. mine has never crashed in my lifetime.

I'm pretty sure Razer has twice the amount of RMA's due to faulty switches. I never have problems with cue I guess it's just due to problems with their software. People who usually bought release versions experience the loose spacebars. the newer ones don't have these issues. You either bought it near release or bought it recently but one that didn't sell then.

I picked up a Razer Ornata from a local retailer and Amazon also sent me a replacement K70.

The replacement K70 has much sturdier keys. I definitely got a defective board before. There is no more rattle in the backspace or spacebar, although I still feel the spacebar is not all that solid.

I am still having issues with the CUE software but Corsair just put out an update that I got to work. I am much happier now that I am actually able to configure the lighting and use profiles and the keys are not a nightmare to type on anymore.

Regarding the Ornata from Razer, the build quality is not as good, nor does it have dedicated media keys or volume control, but it is actually pretty decent. The software works flawlessly and switches profiles automatically without the need to download game specific profiles.

I definitely prefer the typing experience on the K70 with MX browns. The Ornata is just too clicky for my taste. For gaming it was good once I got used to it. (I used it for a week waiting for the K70 replacement).

I ended up giving it to my wife since she likes the colors... I will stick with the K70 despite my ongoing troubles with the software.

Defective stabilizers and switches are a direct issue that come straight from cherry. Corsair is forced to use cherry stabilizers as part of their partnership. Cherry manufactures the defective stabilizers and corsair can't do anything about it. Cherry produces defective mx blues and stabilizers. Since 2014 they began having lots of defective components hence why logitech, razer, steel series, thermaltake began using different switches.
