Hi,

so i've been out of the game the last few years and not really kept up with the latest hardware, chipset gens/gains etc, and would like some advice on motherboard/cpu upgrade options initially, hell why not even gpu/ram/nvme ssd too whilst i'm at it but they'll be last until the prices come down due to the shortages/scalpers etc.

System will be mainly used for gaming @ 1080p 120Hz, lots of chrome tabs, some benchmarking, torrenting (don't judge me :D)

Was looking at i5-12600K/RX6600XT combo but didn't do alot of research as of yet and seems AMD is kicking Intels butt these days? .

Have just ordered a new AIO Corsair ICUE H150i RGB Pro XT 360mm, Decided on some upgrades as it's been 5 years after all.

Current parts can be used in the new system too. I don't care for DDR5 atm as its not matured enough and timings are bad nor PCIE5.0, however I would like to overclock.

I'm unsure whether to go with Z690 or b660 as I don't think I'll need all the extra features on the latter or extra PCIE slots etc, but I have found some deals close in price:

Asus Prime Z690-A D4 WIFI

After watching a Linus vid recently on mixing ram I was considering risking buying another kit of the same ram/timings, I know you shouldn't do this and I never have but seems worth the risk as id like 32gb for chrome and dont wanna have to pay a fortune for 2x16gb kit. My question is, do all G-Skill Trident Z use Samsung B-Die? 🤔

Thanks for the suggestion but as I stated I need wifi and would like to OC the CPU.

Also id rather save £150-200 on the GPU and go with the RX 6600xt as the nvidia 3060ti is not worth the extra in terms of price/perf gain especially as ill only be gaming at 1080p.

I think I'll wait for the GTX 40** series to release and hopefully prices will normalise/come down on the 30** series before I buy a GPU.
