I am trying to install Kali Linux 2017.1 onto an external Seagate-Expansion 1TB HDD. I can write the ISO to the disk, but when I reach the 'Partition Disks' section of the Graphical Installation, I am faced with an error: "Failed to created file system The ext4 file system creation in partition #1 of SCSI6 (0,0,0) (sdb) failed."

Any help with this error would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

Solution
Why Kali? This is specialized distribution, not fpr everyday use, and definitely not for beginners.

You can't install Linux onto same disk you booted installation from.
