Hi there... so the unthinkable has happen. I've been victim of this nasty ransomware....
Been running some antivirus tools and spyware i think i removed infection but i got kasp extension on several files... anyone had this issue and been able to solve it?
Essentially ransomware programs are multifaced applications and they most of the time serve multiple purposes:
1- Money: They are there to encrypt your files and then ask for money in exchange for a password
2- Test a novel encryption algorithm: Some ransomware are actually a method that can be used to test a novel encryption algorithm and see if the major companies or the population can break it after they have infected a large number of people
Many ransomware applications would ask for money but they might not give you the encryption key.
In either case you can check out anti ransomware webpages of security companies like Avira, Sophos, Norton, Comodo, or Kaspersky and see if there has been a decryptor made available for your issue and infection.
If a ransomware uses standard encryption (like AES encryption or pgp encryption), instead of their own novel encryption methods, your chances of find a tool that will be able to break it open would probably decrease dramatically.

I wish I could help more, but these things are nasty and each have their own special case. I hope you find a solution to your problem.

Also, time to update to Windows 10. Windows 7 doesn't even get security updates any longer. The longer you run Windows 7 the more susceptible your computer is.

The last few times I've tried I was able to update for free to Windows 10.

Also, you must be careful what sites you visit, what you click on etc.
