I bought a full KEF speaker/sub setup about a year ago at the thrift store I work at (I'm in charge of the electronics section) and I've had a problem with sub since then. The subwoofer is a KEF C4 and my AV receiver is an Onkyo TX-NR535.

The issue I have is that the subwoofer is insanely loud... Right now it's set to something like -10db on the receiver and the volume on the back of the sub is all the way down to "min" and it's still loud. The problem with that is that the sub goes in auto standby when the signal from the receiver is too low so I can't lower the volume more than -10db. It's as if the "base" volume of the sub is set too high for some reason but I don't know any way to fix that. I'm not sure if Audyssey calibration would help (I don't have the mic anyway) and I'm pretty sure I checked all the volume/bass related settings of my receiver.

If anyone has an idea on what could fix this I would be extremely grateful.🙏

Additional info:
-The sub is in the corner of the room (i can't put it anywhere else).
-I plugged a different sub with the same cable and did not have any issue.
