Kenwood detecting CD in drive

Three of my friends and I have a Kenwood TrueX 72X CD-ROM and all three take a very long time to detect CD's. I even have to reset the computer every now and then to get it to detect my Diablo II. Other than their CD detection speed, all of our CD-ROM's are very fast.

Is this just a quality of the TrueX or maybe a setting probolem ?

Well on average the KW72x takes a little bit longer then most cd roms to start up but not that long maybe about 5-7 seconds. The only thing is you might need to upgrade your firmware. The latest version out is 226g and I have been looking for it. The firmware upgrade solves alot of problems including (specifically) the reading of Diablo 2 cd's. www.kenwoodtech.com is kenwoods site for the 72x but it is down and I can't get a hold of anyone at kenwood so good luck at getting it.

I just got mine for christmas and Its lickedy split in all aspects.I did have to call them to configure it in Bios but they were helpful and its great.

Kenwood answered my email and said their web site will be back up on 01/12/01.

I already have a new firmware version from a couple of months ago (not sure what version) and the newest version of my bois. I will find out what virsion of firmware I have and try the newest one.
