and sold out again 😀

Yea just goes to show how quick they sell out. Yet again the question comes up: Is it because they only ship a small amount at a time or are they really that hot of a card that they sell within 3 seconds

@ Malmental, wherever he may be, you will be disappointed to know I have gone to the Red team this round.

After following the CUDA since it was released and even before then, having an FX5700. Goodbye Nvidia, may we meet again some time down the road when you have a card that captures my interest - Something you haven't done since the GTX460 🙁

May I ask you what the deciding factor was ?

Mactronix :)

I didn't want to pay Anything over £300 for a graphics card. I play at 1680x1050, and somewhere in the future I may end up upgrading to eyefinity.

For the now, the 7870 is the best card for me, its almost overkill, its practically at the overkill limit, a GTX580 would've been another good choice but they are more expensive and fall short when overclocked.
For the future it can be crossfired and used for eyefinity because its VRAM is still quite high.

And mainly, I got sick of waiting. I think my GTX460s are fried, because when Overclocked, they don't work at all anymore (I dont think its the PSU, cause when I upped the voltages but not the clocks it was fine) - and the 768mb frame buffer was making me cry a little inside.

I had not been shopping at that price point myself, AMD do seem to have it pretty much covered now.
Obviously waiting is a pain and having fried cards is just the thing to make your mind up for you.

They say its swings and roundabouts, I have been a long time red user and have decided this years PC will have green in it so we cancel each other out.

I'm content to wait for the actual midrange kepler card first before making my mind up though.

The ~15% difference in speed and efficiency between Kepler and Tahiti will, I think, be completely nullified by Pitcairn when the Mid range parts are released. Pitcairns efficiency and performance is so much better than Tahiti's its unreal, which Is why I'm not worried about paying for it now. I know the prices will drop, but I cannot wait any longer, and the outcome would've been the same, I'm pretty sure I would've gone Pitcairn anyway (I love Sapphire and my rigs going for a blue theme so dat PCB man, dat PCB)

Stock really is not an issue in the UK plenty of shops have them in stock. there are quite a few specific models that are pre order but then that's the third party cards reference cards are easy enough to get if you want them.

Here, in The Netherlands every shop has them in stock.. Seems like no one wants to buy a GTX 680 here xD

Looks like Zotac's coming out with a killer GTX 680:
http://www.guru3d.com/news/zotac-geforce-gtx-680-extreme-edition-photos/

ZOTAC uses the GK104 GPU ties it to 2 GB of high-grade Hynix GDDR5 memory chips, and paired them with a 12-phase VRM power supply.

Next to International Rectifier GaNpowIR driver-MOSFETs the VRM uses server-grade tantalum capacitors, and FPCAP multi-phase capacitors. To drive it all, ZOTAC used CHiL CHL8318 VRM controller.

The card also will come with a USB control module. Called OC+, ZOTAC will bundle the card with a front-panel OC module that probably fits into a 5.25" or 3.5" exposed drive bay, gives you hardware control, and real-time diagnostic information about clock speeds, fan speeds, and voltages. The air-cooler uses two fans to ventilate a dense aluminum fin array, which draws heat using copper heat pipes. Here a couple of photo's courtesy of expreview.

That is the most beautiful card I've ever seen. I have to admit that!

Lots of people order 3 gtx680s but yes i wouldnt bet many would buy the gk110.

The same can be said for most things, a lot of enthusiasts are not even interested in owning the top end stuff but probably know much more about it than half of those that actually own the stuff.
That goes for any hobby really.
