Keyboard and mouse broken?

What's up guys? So I have been experiencing a lot of problems with my keyboard ever since I have bought it. It's a Microsoft Keyboard 200 and I know it's not the best keyboard in the world. Every time I am doing something power hungry on my computer such as playing games, video editing and photo editing, the keyboard would disconnect and reconnect. I would here the USB disconnect and reconnect sound every time it would do this.

This happens around once every 5-10 minutes. In games it is not so bad, there are no keyboard and mouse malfunctions and it just goes back to being normal after a 2 second delay, but when I'm on GIMP and I hear this sound it is really bad. The keyboard shortcuts become broken and change into different keys and when in chrome, the scroll wheel turns into a zoom toggle instead of a page scroll toggle. I would have to restart my computer or manually reconnect my mouse/keyboard.

Now I researched about 2 months ago that this has to do with ghosting on the keyboard, but before it wasn't affecting the mouse. The mouse is also not the best as well. What should I do to fix this? I definitely have at least 100w remaining on my 500w powersupply that's powering a gtx 960, i5 4690, 1TB HDD, a 1600x1200 monitor, so I don't think it has anything to do with the power supply. I am looking to buy something like the CM Storm Devastator for Christmas or something.

if it only happens when your pc is under load and doing a lot i'd say the real problem is somewhere in your motherboard/USB port or power supply.

if it was the keyboard it wouldn't matter what was happening in your system; it would just happen randomly

Well if I get what ghosting is, I believe it's when you press multiple keystrokes at once and it disconnects or something like that. Like if I put on a game and not touch it, I won't hear the sound, but for example, when I am playing Smite and I hold the W key, I would hear the disconnect sound and my character would just keep moving forward until I press W again, or when I'm in GIMP, when I usually get the sound when I press shift+S to enlarge the brush size. I would barely hear the sound when I'm just browsing the web, it's usually something where I have to hold multiple keys down such as photo editing and games.

I was under the impression ghosting occures when keystrokes are missed because it's a low quality keyboard. something like typing too fast will cause it. it's not a case where the keyboard disconnects, the keystrokes simply don't get translated. if you're a 60-80wpm typer, you'll see it from time to time on poor keyboards, where some of your keystrokes just don't register.

my main point is if you're only getting the keyboard "disconnecting" under heavy PC load/usage, then it's probably not the keyboard, and instead is something in the power delivery system of your computer. either the psu or motherboard, which is faulting out on you. I personally had usb devices lose connection randomly prior to a psu failure, and I've seen it occur prior to a motherboard failure.

that said keyboards are cheap. find a cheap one, replace the one you've got and see if the issue goes away, if it does then it was a bad keyboard.
