Keyboard and mouse working in bios but not windows

So I am working with some older hardware and replace the pay and got on this computer, but now I don’t even get power to the keyboard and mouse ounce windows boots.

Are they PS2 or USB? I assume you have them connected before you power on the machine?

-make sure your bios is updated, (should be after april of 2012)
- plug into the usb 2 port connected directly to the back of the motherboard.
-sometimes usb 3 ports have to have a BIOS update and a motherboard usb 3 driver update from your motherboard vendor.

-some old bios might have old USB extensions you have to turn off.

remove unused usb devices. some old usb drivers responded to usb packets that did not belong to them.

-make sure the USB port is not shorting out against the case. The motherboard might shut down the hub/ port

Lol this is 2006 era so no USB 3. How do I update the bios if I can’t get into windows?

Bios is up to date tried back USB ports. All USB devices removed

2006 was before usb 1.1 came out, back in the day of customized usb drivers.
even windows vista came out in November of 2006.

what version of windows are you trying to run? xp?
