Keyboard controller problem

I have an Asus 1025c netbook that may have sustained liquid damage. Everything seems to be good, with the exception of the keyboard. So I went to an external USB KB. That works fine in the BIOS, but once out in the OS, whether it's onboard Win7, or XP or Linux on a CD, it's not working. It acts like the Ctrl key is stuck down (s brings up the Save menu, Esc brings up the Start menu, etc). I've tried different keyboards.

So my question is, why is the KB working fine under bios but not in the OS? I have flashed the bios, so that's not the problem. What can I do about this? Thanks.

It is simple. the CTRL key does not have any use into your BIOS, so it is not causing any throuble at all.

What you can do to solve this problem is to carefully remove the keyboard of your netbook (they used to be easy to remove) and disconnect the cable (will be wide, semi transparent) that sits under the keyboard. Then place the keyboard again on the netbook (but disconnecter) for aesthetics, or try to find a new one on Ebay. Anyway, with the old integrated and faulty keyboard disconnected from the motherboard, you should be able to use an external keyboard.

And for the external one, there are a lot of small keyboards in the market aimed to tablets and HTPCs that can be a good choice.
