Hi guys,

I'll begin with saying I'm not computer savy at all and I have came across a weird and annoying problem. I noticed after being afk once that when I clicked on something like the start menu, it would just immediately close when I went to hit a button. So I turned off my pc and now it won't load past the bios screen. I eventually found out that I need to unplug my keyboard and turn on the computer to get past the bios screen and to my login. Now my keyboard is not functional, this has happened a few times. I fixed it once by messing around with sticky keys in the ease of access menu and got it working. It has happened again and nothing is working, I cannot access my bios because my keyboard is not functional.

Oh and also, a few of the keys blink when I turn the computer on and also when I tried the keyboard in my laptop:eek: One more thing to add would be, the lights on the keyboard are on, and when I go to type something, it seems to be using keyboard shortcuts and shuffles through the menu options. This is so puzzling, some guidance or suggestions would be great. Thanks much

I'm on windows 7

The normal characters being used as shortcuts has happened to me a few times... First of all, try clicking all the command buttons like CTRL and ALT a few times just to fix any weird mechanical problems there. If that doesn't work, turn the keyboard upside-down and try to shake the grit and crumbs etc out of it. Tell me if that works.

Lol had to laugh about the crumbs idea, not at your expense though ezeron :D

Try load Windows without the keyboard, open notepad and connect the keyboard and type some characters or highlight copy/paste using the mouse before connecting the keyboard and see what happens.

Lol, the crumbs idea was a long shot, I agree w/ that.
Ok this is so weird, I opened up notepad, and typed stuff with the onscreen keyboard, copied it, and use the paste command with my keyboard and it SHOWED UP. Now the keyboard appears to be working. BUt, the n and b keys aren't working now.
lol what is happening

Oh yea you did sorry.

Im assuming your keyboard is usb?

In device manager under universal serial bus, you'll find a list of entries. Uninstall only the entries mentioning Host controllers by right clicking > uninstall.

Reboot with both mouse/keyboard not plugged. If you need a login, disable that for now.

Once Windows is loaded, plug in either the mouse or keyboard one at a time and let Windows reinstall Host controller for each device, wait for the ready to use message before adding the 2nd device.

Ok, during the driver software installation, usc composite device is ready to use, then endpoint1 Interrupt has failed "device unplugged" and ep2 interrupt has failed "Device unplugged" After I have plugged in the keyboard that all happens

Very wiered problem, i don't want to blame the motherboard but it could be.

Do you have a ps2 port at the back? If you need a picture of ps2 port to know what it is let me know. With that try a usb to ps2 adapter and use the ps2 port instead.

Good night.

PS2: Can be used for either a keyboard or mouse. PS2 is still widely available but limited in the amount of ports as USB is now the dominant connection for these devices.

Ok, this is super weird. I tryed using my old razer blackwidow I gave to a friend, and it works. And I plugged in the problem keyboard into his computer and it worked. Im so confused. Will my keyboard cause his computer problems in the future now?

For a keyboard to prevent a computer booting up appears to be motherboard related, it couldn't be drivers since Windows hasn't loaded yet.

Did you go in the bios at all before this problem started happening? There's a usb legacy setting most bios's have you can try enabling/disable, what ever setting its on atm. You don't remember changing anything like this?

No, I didn't really explore the bios settings. I'm sure there is a lecacy setting tho. I couldnt access the bios after the problem started because the keyboard wasn't working so i couldnt press the keyboard shortcuts
