Keyboard not working on login screen

so i have a normal dell keyboard that has been working since i got it as a spare from work and when i turn my computer on i cannot type, i have change the led's that show if caps lock is on but that is it. i am stuck with a gaming rig but cannot use it because i cannot log in

This happens from time to time on my rig with my keyboard (I use K70 2016 RGB)

I either change the USB port, or wait a few seconds. Sometimes, the keyboard isn't actually loaded in when the system posts leading some to have to wait, like me lol.

This happens to me on my Windows 10 time to time, easiest way is just to restart the computer if you haven't done that already. If this doesn't work, try pressing every character key until a character pops up on the screen. Keep tapping it, then try typing. For me, the key is usually "I"

Try a different USB port that the keyboard is plugged into?
