[SOLVED] Keyboard unresponsive after locking Windows with the Windows key + L ?

I have a new PC with a new Razer BlackWidow V4 keyboard. When I lock the PC (Windows key + L) and then attempt to enter my PIN to get back in, the keyboard becomes unresponsive after one or two keypresses.

If I enable the on-screen keyboard with the mouse to enter the PIN then, when I get back into Windows and navigate to any text input control, the "d" key is being repeated rapidly until I press a key. It is always the "d" key. The keyboard is fine after that and has shown no other problems at all.

I have tried different USB ports. I have tried setting it so that the keyboard and USB ports are not suspended.

The one thing that does work, temporarily, is to move it to another USB port while the PC is on (when Windows is up and running). I can then lock it and find the keyboard responsive when I hit a key to unlock it, allowing me to type in my PIN. Once I restart the PC though, it reverts to being unresponsive following the PC being locked (perhaps allowing one or two keystrokes before it dies) and again repeating the "d" key when I get back in and navigate to any text input control (as it just did in this control after I locked it and resumed now to check one more time).

I suppose I should try the keyboard on another PC or laptop, to see if it's the keyboard itself that is flaky. I am a little suspicious of the Razer Synapse software (Synapse 3, currently a beta version) as it does fit better with it becoming unresponsive after I start typing in my PIN — he said, as though he knew anything about hardware and the software that drives it.

If anyone has seen anything like this before, I would seriously appreciate any and all advice you may have.

Update: I tried the new keyboard on one of my other setups (laptop, with docking station), and had no issues. The Razer software is not installed there (really hoping it's that). I tried a different keyboard — a very old (10+ years) Razer Blackwidow — on my new PC and there are no issues there either (Razer software has not grabbed it yet though).

Update: Removing Razer's Synapse software resolved this issue. Keyboard remains responsive on unlocking and the default lighting configuration is just fine. I would still really appreciate hearing from anyone who has encountered this or who knows anything about it.

Likely that the Razor Synapse software was buggy, corrupted, or conflicting in some manner.

You could test that by manually downloading, installing, and configuring Synapse directly from Razor.

(Note: just because "Razor" or "Synapse" appear in the URL does not mean that the site is truly Razor.)

However, if the keyboard is working well and there is no explicit requirement for Synaspe then just do not install Synapse.

Changing thread from "Question" to "Solved".

Thank you.

The software auto installed when connecting the peripherals (mouse and keyboard). I am certain it’s the official Razer software. It was horrible some 10 years ago and it’s still horrible. I’m just glad that the keyboard is working fine now.
