In trouble, computer store wont have a memory found on the support list for the GA-P67A-UD4-B3. Cannot go to another store. So i have to find an alternative ram.

Found khx1600c9d3t1k2/8gx (Kingston 8Gb ram (2x4) Kit) but not sure if it would work. Anyone with succesful experience using "non supported" rams ?

Generally as long as the ram fulfills the general specifications it will work. The one listed above might work, but you really should have memory that uses 1.5V voltage or less when dealing with P67 platform.

So try finding ram from the store with these specifications:
2x4GB 1.5V(or less) CAS9 1600Mhz.

Pretty much any brand will do: Corsair, Gskill, Kingston and Mushkin are preferred.

The store really won't know anything. It's better to check the QVL (qualified vendor list) from Gigabyte to see what parts they've tested and what they haven't.

As long as the RAM meets the guidelines and specifications (most Gigabyte Z68 and P67 boards support 1.5V and 1.6V) it should work.

I agree with the above post but Crucial and PNY are two highly regarded memory makers that weren't on the list.

Top tier would be Crucial, Corsair, G.Skill, Mushkin, PNY, and Kingston. Second tier would be ADATA, Patriot, OCZ, Geil (but they keep getting a lot of favorable reviews), and AMD. Third tier would be the rest (Wintec, Edge Tech, Team Group, etc.).

Do the pain in the @** thing and look up the QVL for each stick of RAM they do have and see if the RAM makers have tried the sticks with the specific Gigabyte board instead of the other way around if you have to.

Crucial and Kingston, to of the RAM makers with the lowest failure rates, both have online tools that let you type in a motherboard and they tell you which RAM they make that works with it.

Try it.

Yeah the one on Crucial's website I've found to be the most useful. I didn't know Kingston had the same thing, I'll check it out.

Thank you all for your responses. I had heard about the 1.5v is recommended for p67 so ill be sure to follow that.

I checked the QVL from gigabyte and congifuration tools from Kingston and Adata (they only have this 2 brands for ram). But non matches from what is available in store, so ill follow the general guidelines.

I really don't like brick and mortar stores RAM selection.

The best buy near me has only one maker of RAM (IIRC it is PNY) and only like 2 different options (IIRC 2x 2GB and 1x 4GB) and that is all.

I am used to buying online where anything I want is at my fingertips.
