Killing Ram or bad luck ?

Hi,

I recently built as new machine.
You can see the spec in my signature.

After i built the machine and got up and running with installed software.
Everything seemed fine until I used After Effects which kept crashing & behaving strange. As After Effects was using all of my Ram I started there.
Ran a memtest & one of my ram sticks was bad. So currently sent off for RMA.

I decided to buy some more Ram & go with a quad channel kit.
Soon as it arrived, I ran a test & the outcome was that one of the sticks was bad.
It was in a different Dimm slot this time. I've removed the bad stick & the other three are running fine, no errors.
I've further tested by putting the bad ram back in ( in a different Dimm slot this time ) & the test will show errors, take it out & all is good.
I will be send the quad kit back later this week.
My worry / question is this -

Should I be concerned that my setup maybe frying Ram or could it simply be bad luck ? Seeing as I've been using the machine with the other three in & it's been fine.

I should add that XMP appeared to be running at correct voltage, asus probe not showing any problems. I always use a static strap when working on my machine.
Also considering buying a UPS before the next batch of Ram turns up. I always have a surge protector.

I wouldn't put it down to anything but bad luck with your RAM modules, especially if you ordered from the same supplier who may themselves have received a bad batch from their supplier.

It may pay you to get a refund if possible and buy elsewhere, otherwise you could find yourself just going round in circles and getting nowhere fast.
