Hello..

Yesterday i bought a brand new flash drive..

I plugged it in and it showed as KINGSTON 14,4gb

Fine.. i then used windows media creation tool to make a windows 10 installation..

The tool then failed to finish the installation for some reason..

Has had this happen to me before and downloaded rufus to use instead..

I then formatted to use rufus to create the windows 10 installation.

I then noticed the total space of the flash drive has decreased to 14,3gb

After a normal format..

Whaaaat???

Totally irrelevant for getting the windows 10 media to work as supposed to of course. And the flash drive is otherwise working flawlessly to my knowledge, with write speeds of 85MB/s ?

But what happend to the 00,1?? Also tried a long format, but it didnt help..

I noticed under the drives properties that two new events was created in the drives log one called ''started'' and the other was something with driver 32kb, i cant remember exactly right now..

Is it some kind of first start configuration that occurs?? That takes the 00.1?

Is this normal or should i send it back?

Solution
NTFS/FAT32 it's all different.
File sizes can be changed.
I think you are making a huge fuss about nothing. If you don't understand how filing works, then there are a lot of wiki pages about the differences between them all.
